looking for AD9837 (Programmable Waveform Generator) alternative from TI

Hi team,

Could you please advise if we have any Programmable Waveform Generator such as AD9837?

In my application, I need to generate a sine wave at low frequency.

Thanks.

  • Hello Shai,

TI generally doesn't have direct digital synthesis systems. TI makes DACs which can be used in direct digital synthesis or waveform generators, but the output codes must be generated manually. Meanwhile, discrete analog waveform generators have largely been obsoleted by their manufacturers, since the market mostly favors DDS for low frequency waveform generation.

Generally, integrated DDS systems include lower resolution DACs which impacts output spur performance negatively (though there are some higher-cost exceptions). For higher performance systems, a suitable FPGA or DSP can implement the phase accumulator and the sine wave LUT, add user noise shaping or dithering techniques, and take full advantage of a higher resolution DAC to minimize output spurs. If it is possible to take this processor+DAC approach, a TI DAC works well. But there is no "all in one" TI DAC+digital synthesizer.

    Regards,
