ADS1298: power-supply test points failure

Part Number: ADS1298

My ADS1298 board worked well seeing from the software and all the power-test point values were correct.  However, when I power the MMB0 board today, the blue light segments show '8.', which is abnormal.  And the software tells that 'download failed...reset the hardware'.  TP7, TP10 and TP6 are incorrect: TP7=+7V (should be +5V), TP10=+3.3V (should be +1V), and TP6=+0.4V(should be -2.5V).  I think it is the power supply issue.  Could you please tell me what is going on here and how to fix it?  Many thanks!

  • Hi Suzhou,

This sounds like the components on the board may have been damaged. If you have not already, I recommend checking all of the jumper locations to ensure that something has not been moved and reset the board by pressing the reset button on the MMB0. Has the board been subjected to any harsh electrical stress? Things like the grid power suddenly turning off/on, ESD from human touch, etc could all be an issue. I see that the board is on a wooden desk, having an ESD safe work space may help in the future.

I recommend probing additional points on the board to try to isolate the issue and see if it is indeed a damaged IC. Use the MMB0 schematic in the BIOFAQ in my signature to follow the voltage bus'.

If this cannot be resolved, unfortunately you may need to order a new board.
