ADS124S06: ADC hanging issue

Part Number: ADS124S06

Hi there,

We are facing ADC hang issue due to some external influence. Would it be safe for ADC, if we reset it every after 10 minutes by pulling its RESET pin low?

Our application is to continuously monitor a signal for several years.

    Hi Surya,

    There is no issue with periodically using the RESET pin to to reset the ADS124S06.  Using the RESET is one method to restore the device to a known state.  However, it is recommended to find the source of disturbance and treat it effectively so that this external influence no longer disturbs the ADS124S06.  If the disturbance is causing a condition that exceeds the Absolute Maximum Ratings for the device, then repeated disturbances could affect the long term performance of the device.

    Hi Bob, Many thanks for your quick and prompt response. Although we are using the ADV with adequate filters, protection Tranzorb at ADC input and 2-stage LDO based DC supply, we have faced issue 2 times where the NFR and some drift in measurement were observed. It got corrected on restart of the device. As wears using the ADC in a product to be installed near heavy duty motors, there May get certain EMC noise coupled dhero switching etc which May create such situation. To address it, we want to reset the ADC at some defined interval and re initialise it. Regards Prateek
