ADS5474 Evaluation Board

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS5474, ADS5474EVM, DAC5681EVM

Greetings,

I would like to use TI's evaluation boards to connect the ADS5474 Evaluation board to an FPGA evaluation board and eventually to a DAC evaluation board that has comparable through put as the ADC.

Does TI make evaluation boards that will build this system without designing any interface boards?

If not, can someone that is familiar with TI's evaluation boards recommend a set of boards that will require the minimum amount of interface board design?

Thank you

Frank

  • You can utilize the FMC-ADC_Adapter to interface the ADS5474 (or any other TI ADC using the LVDS interface) to the Xilinx ML06 FPGA evaluation board.  The details for the adapter board can be found on the TI web.  Further, you can search for the TSW4200 on the TI web which illustrates a DAC and ADC solution for interfacing with the Xilinx development platform.

  • I have chosen several evaluations boards that I want to connect and use to evaluate some signal processing algorithms.   I want to configure them as an ADC-FPGA-DAC.

The parts that I have chosen are:

    • ADC – ADS5474EVM
    • FPGA – XILINX ML605 Evaluation Kit
    • DAC – DAC5681EVM
    • ADC/FMC and FMC/DAC Adapters

I have several questions that I need some help with:

    1.  I understand that the ML605 has both a HPC and LPC connectors.  I believe I read on the forum that a LPC connector can connect into part of the HPC connector.  Will the ADC and DAC physically connect without interference to the ML605 with the use of the adapter cards?
    2. Will TI supply me with VHDL or Verilog for the ADC and DAC that I can re-factor for the Vertex 6 FPGA?
    3. Does TI offer a ‘Digital Signal Processor’ evaluation board that I could substitute for the ML605?  This board would require two FMC connectors that are compatible with the DAC and the ADC.

    Thank you for the help.
