ADS1191: definitive pinout for ADS1191 single channel AFE

Part Number: ADS1191
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1192, , ADS1292R, ADS1291, ADS1292

Folks,

The ADS1191 (single channel) and ADS1192 (dual channel) share the datasheet.  I'm looking for the pinout for ADS1191.  I've found the drawings on p.9 and the table on p.10 .  The table has a single column, which doesn't differentiate between the ADS1191 (single channel) and ADS1192 (dual channel).  The table also shows the third pair of differential inputs.

Fig.14 shows RESP_MODP/IN3P and RESP_MODN/IN3N; neither AD1191 nor AD1192 is supposed to have a drive for impedance pneumography.

Which [single in case of ADS1191] channel is are actually connected?  To which pins?

Is the second PGA active in ADS1191?  If so, how should I treat it?

Is there an accurate document for ADS1191?

Any suggestion, insight or reference is really appreciated!

Cheers,
- Nick

p.s.  The present version of the ADS1191 datasheet looks as if somebody took the datasheet for ADS1292R, started removing the bits which don't apply to ADS1191, removed half of them... and didn't finish the job.

  • Hi Nick,

    Thank you for your post.

The ADS1191 and ADS1192 share exactly the same pinout. Channel 2 is disabled inside the ADS1191 (PGA and ADC). You should tie any unused analog inputs to AVDD.

I agree with you that our ADS1191/92 data sheet lacks many updates. The 24-bit variant data sheet (ADS1291 and ADS1292) are much more up to date. You may refer to the ADS1292 data sheet for pin connection and layout information.

    Best regards,
