ADS131A04: can ADS131A04`s charge pump power external device

Part Number: ADS131A04

Hi Team,

can ADS131A04`s charge pump power external device, like amps? if so what it`s maximum output current?

Thanks.

Regards, Sunny

  • Sunny,

The ADS131A04's negative charge pump was designed to power a small negative rail just for the device, and not to power other devices. While there is a pin that requires a capacitor to supply charge, I don't know of any characterization data that shows it can drive an output load.

  • Sunny,

I was able to look at the output current of the negative charge pump with an ADS131A04EVM. With a dead short from the negative output to ground, the current was about 70uA. Again, that is with a short to ground and the output is 0V, not the normal -2V.

Based on that, I would guess that this output shouldn't be used to drive anything at all.

  • Hi Joseph,

Got it, many thanks for your help.
