ADS1258-EP: how should I connect The EPAD if I use Bipolar supply.

Part Number: ADS1258-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1258,

Dear All,

I have query regarding the ADS1258, how should I connect The EPAD if I use Bipolar supply.

My Application is used ADS1258 for Bipolar Input Configuration.

The AVDD has connect to +2.5V ; AVSS has connect to -2.5V.

Which is the right one to connect The EPAD with GND or -2.5V?

Please give me your comments ,I am attaching the Schematic for your reference.

Thanks and Regards,

  • Hi Mohamed,

You have correctly connected the pad in your schematic.  When using bipolar supplies the center pad (ETP) should be connected to the lowest potential which is -2.5V.  This is noted in the pin assignment table on page 6 of the ADS1258-EP datasheet.  For pin 5 (AVSS) there is the following statement: "Negative Analog Power Supply: 0V for unipolar operation, –2.5 V for bipolar operation. (Internally connected to exposed thermal pad of QFN package.)"
