ADS127L01EVM: Configuring EVM for single ended analog input

Part Number: ADS127L01EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS127L01

Hello,

We will evaluate ADS127L01 with single ended analog input. According to the ADS127L01EVM User's Guide, in order to configure the EVM board for single ended input, R72 resistor should be installed on the board.

"By default, the EVM is configured for a fully-differential analog input signal. To configure the input driver amplifier (U30) for a signal-ended input, J7 and J8[1] can be tied to GND by installing R72."

But I do not want to modify the EVM board permanently since we will need to evaluate the board for differential analog input later. Is there any other way to configure the EVM board for single ended analog input without installing R72 or changing the board permanently?

Thanks and best regards,

Sukru

  • Hello again,

I have realized that R72 soldering points are connected to GROUND and AINN. I think it can be done with a BNC connector to J7 with shield and core are short connected. Do you think this is a viable alternative to installing R72?

  • Hello,

I think the easiest way to connect AINN to GND is short connecting the soldering extensions of J7 under the board (as I depicted in the picture below).

I just want to make sure that I understood it correctly and connecting AINN to GND this way does not cause any harm to the board. Can someone give me an idea on this please?

  • Hello Sukrui,

Yes, you can short the center pin on J7 to ground, as you have shown in the above picture, to configure for single ended inputs.  If you prefer not to solder on the evaluation board, you can also use a shorting SMA plug as well.

Using good soldering practices, you can also solder a 0ohm jumper at R72, and later remove it if you wish.

  • Hello Keith,

Thanks for the answer, I have tested shorting the J7 to ground with success.

    Happy new year.
