AFE5809: How to use AFE5809

Hi Team,

The customer is experiencing below issue and needs your help.

  1. The decimation function is divided into two parts: decimation filtering and downsampling. What type of decimation filter is and how are its coefficients generated? Is it possible to share an example of generating filter coefficients?
  2. In the SLOU338 PDF file, section 8.3, demodulation mode test section, the fourth test Demod M = 4 I / Q test mode, the coefficients of its decimation filter can be seen from the txt file. But he doesn't know the specific parameters such as the cutoff frequency of the filter, please explain in detail.
  3. In the tidu702pdf file, section 5.5, according to the test procedures provided, the performance of the improved signal-to-noise ratio cannot be achieved.

  • Hi,

    when trying to use AFE5809 device,

    since this device is focusing on all the details for applying ultrasound implementation,

    all the information if not clearly covered by SLOU338 file

    and Tidu702 file, the customer must focus on the AFE5809 Datasheet.

    Because all the detail information should be included there.

    If the customer can use both AFE5809EVM with TSW1400 board (including GUI software)

    and follow the datasheet, they can understand more details about how AFE5809 device works.

    Their GUI software can show you how and what type of decimation filter can be used and

    at first you can use the coefficient default mode and later you can program by your own.

    The SLOU338 shows how to make demod mode work

    but details will still need to observe it from the Datasheet.

    In the Tidu702 file shows on section 5.5 (also please look at section 6. Figure 22 and Figure 23)

    it shows before you start the Decimation mode (=No Decimation)

    you can see the test result SNR=70.90 dBFS

    but after you apply the Decimation mode (=32, for example)

    you can get the test result SNR=83.6 dBFS.

    That means the SNR ratio can be improved after using demod mode.
