ADS8867: ADS8867 can not reset when it output is all 0

Part Number: ADS8867
The input signal is normal. When the power is unstable, output is all 0.But when the power is stable, the output is still 0.If I disconnect all the power and re-plug in the stable power, the data output is normal,
Where AVDD DVDD must be unplugged to start. Is the output abnormal due to the power supply?Which power supply is unstable will cause abnormal output?
  • Hello,

Welcome to the TI E2E Community.

The ADS8867 can get into a latch-up mode where it will no longer operate if any of the supply voltages or inputs exceed the ABS MAX specifications.  Once this occurs, the device can be permanently damaged.  If the current is limited to less than 10mA, then a power cycle will typically clear the condition.

This can occur due to unstable power supplies, or the input ampifier driving the input voltages greater than the ABS MAX specs.  Take a look at the following TI Precision Labs for suggestions on how to protect ADC's from electrical transients.

  • What happens if the avdd voltage is lower than 2.7v

  • Hello,

Most devices will still function correctly at lower voltages, but at some voltage level less than 2.7V, all will stop working and may require a full power cycle to completely recover. As long as the ABS Max specs are not exceeded, the device will not be damaged.

TI does not characterize or recommend operation below 2.7V for AVDD.
