ADS1675: Modulator Data output mode

Part Number: ADS1675

Hi

Is it possible to use the ADC in modulator output mode? Meaning that the output data can be obtained directly from the sigma-delta modulator? Or some of the digital filters can be bypassed? This will then bypass internal digital filtering, but have higher sampling rate and high bandwidth.

Kind regards

  • Hi

Maybe I should also ask another question. Would it be possible to use a higher clock than 32 MHz? I would ideally like to have a sampling rate of 5 MSPS and was hoping to use the ADS1675 for this. I am aware that the specifications will not be valid for this higher clock input anymore. What part/component of the ADC would not be functional if a higher clock speed is used?

    Kind regards

  • Hello,

ADS1675 does not support a direct modulator output mode.

The device has been characterized for the highest speed possible and still meet datasheet specifications over supply voltage, temperature, and part to part variations.

Chances are a single device will work at higher frequencies in the lab at room temperature, but you could not count on this performance over a range of devices from different lot builds.

TI does not have any additional information beyond what is in the datasheet, and can only recommend operation up to the min/max levels specified in the datasheet.
