ads8684 analog values are latching due to power cycling with in 50 Ms duration junk values are displaying until power cycle again only it is ok functionally

    I have tied Avdd Dvdd pins to same 5V supply ,

    during power to the unit due to others loading effect on same supply rail 5V Is dipping to 0 and again becoming 5V Within 50 Ms duration but Ads8684 output is latched to some junk values like 3.5 % of F.S values it is not responding to actual input until power recycle any other option to reset the Adc to pick up without power cycling

  • Hi Rajani,

    Have you seen any spike on the supply which is higher than 5V during the duration? A zener or TVS diode can be used to clamp the power supply, however I think the best way to solve the issue is to eliminate the loading effect and improve the power supply.

    I will improve my power supply definitely but my actual query is either ADS8688 / ADS8684 in both cases I have observed that sudden power OFF & ON to the particular ADC I have observed that latching of some junk analog values it is recovering after smooth power cycle only, Is I have faced the issue in multiples of parts of above part no

    Kindly confirm me if there is a sudden Power (5V DC) ON & OFF with APLAB (Linear power supply) leads above ADC will latch in particular state, kindly take up in seriously  I am facing in different cases

    So I wanted to switch over to other part because of above problem, Kindly resolve.......

  • Hi Rajani,

    Before our ADCs were released to the market, a specific start-up test was always done to check the behaviors on these devices including a quick power-up/ power-down and random power sequencing. My suggestion is to add large value capacitors on the power supply pins and also fix the issue led from other loading effect to the power supply.
