Hello guys,

One of my cutomers is looking for a ADC device which can start sampling data and conversion after one pulse input.

Their requests spec for the ADC are the follows.

1. 18bit.

2. 500kSPS.

3. INL=+/-1.5dB.

4. 1 channel differential input.

5. SPI IF

6. AD converter that starts sampling and converts after that when one timing signal is input.

Do you have any ADC device which can be suited for the above?

Hello Kazuya-san,

The ADS8881 has a separate CONVST pin which starts the conversion process, so I do think it meets the above requirements.

However, are you asking for a device that will start conversions with one timing signal input, and then continue to convert at 500ksps without additional timing signal input?

If this is the case, the only 18b+ devices that continuously converts and can be synchronized to an external timing event are the delta-sigma ADC's.

The ADS127L01 may work in this case, but has an internal digital filter that takes 5 samples to fully settle to a step input.
