Hi,
Is there any need for a protection circuit when ADS1298 is expected to be used together with a TENS machine on a subject? The data is expected to be noisy but is there any potential adverse effects to the device?
Kind Regards,
Saba

Hi Saba,
I do not know exactly what kind of noise the TENS machine applies to the patient, however since it should be present on both electrodes in the measurement, the common-mode rejection of the PGA should be able to filter the majority of it out. If there is a possibility of the noise violating the absolute maximum ratings of the device then you may want to consider adding a few diodes to the input lines.
This video series should help if you want to implement a protection circuit: https://training.ti.com/eos-and-esd-adc?context=1139747-1128375-1139109-1137697
