ADS7949: AC input sense

Part Number: ADS7949

Dear Team,

If I want to use this device to sense AC input, is there any concern here?

Voltage -> 97~264VAC, will use resistor divider for suitable ADC input range

Current => 5A, will use current shunt

But how to deal with positive and negative voltage and current?

Can we sense the frequency = 47~63Hz?

BR

Kevin

  • Hello,

If you are trying to measure negative voltages, then you will need to use a bipolar device, the ADS7949 is a unipolar device, thus is can only take in positive signals.

If the worry is that there might be unplanned for negative signals, this would need to be address in the input driving circuit. How is the input being driven?

The device can sample input frequencies of 47 to 63 Hz

    Regards
