ADS127L01: Hardware mode

Part Number: ADS127L01

Hi

Customer will use ADS127L01 with hardware mode and those pins will be tied to GND.

-        Are those pins are tied with 100kohm pull-down resister for each ?
Could those pins are tied with 100kohm of one pull-down resister ?

-        In the schematic of EVM, it seems to be able to be tied to GND without pull-down resister.
Is it necessary for pull-down resister for those pins ?

Thank you and best regards,

Michiaki

  • Hello Michiaki,

I believe you can hard tie these inputs to ground, but I am checking on this to make sure there is not a specif need for these resistors.  However, if using a single resistor, I suggest using a 10kOhm to account for input leakage currents.

I will follow-up with my findings tomorrow.

  • Hi Keith,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

If these pins need pull-up or pull-down resister each, please let me know the reason and concern.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Michiaki

  • Hello Michiaki,

I did some further digging, and it is O.K. to tie these HW pins to either IOVDD or GND directly without a resistor.  If you are driving the inputs with MCU IO pins that could be high impedance during power-up, then you would want to use a 100kohm or lower value as a pull-up or pull-down.

For your customer, YES, they can simply connect all of these HW mode inputs to GND.

    Keith
