ADS54J64EVM: The balun transform

Expert 1065 points
Part Number: ADS54J64EVM

Hi team,

I want to sample thelow frequency signal (about 30khz)with the ADS54J64EVM,but the balun in ADS54J64EVM bandwidth is 250khz to 750mhz and i did not find the recommend part in coilcaft productor, can you help me?

Thanks!

  • Suy,

See the attached data sheet from Mini-Circuits. There are a couple that go as low as 20 or 30KHz. You will have to verify with the data sheet if they will fit in the same footprint as the WBC1-1TL that is used on the EVM.

  • Jim,

I find the balun in the attached package is not match the wbc1-1tl,can it work well?

  • Suy,

Can what work well? We have not tried the low frequency parts you are needing. In most cases, customer would use a differential amplifier for low frequency signals. I suggest you contact Mini-Circuits and see what they can do for you.

Another option is look for an evaluation board that only has the required transformer you need (or a differential amplifier), remove the second transformer from the ADS54J64EVM board (T2 for CHA), and connect the outputs of the transformer board to exposed pads 4 and 6 of T2. If you plan on trying this, make sure the wires connected to these pads are the same length.

    Regards,

    Jim
