DAC8871: Using as single analog supply device

Hi,

I want to use the DAC8871SPW IC for an application with 0-15V variations.

So Is it correct to ground the VSS and VREFL-F & VREFL-S pins to AGND?

The VDD connection will be with 3.3V and VCC and VREFH-F,VREFH-S are shorted together.

Can anyone please help me with this.

Nanjunda,

Yes - this reference configuration is acceptable if you wish to bypass the internal sense connection functionality.

Hi Duke,

Thanks for the reply.

Just want clarify:

1. I can use the VSS = 0V

2. I can connect the VREFL-F and VREFL-S to ground

3. The VCC and VREFH-F, VREFH-S are shorted to 15V.

Please let me know if anyone of these is wrong.

Hi Nanjunda,

For unipolar output from 0 -15V, your configuration is fine.

Make sure that you drive reference pins using a buffer.The current into the VREFH input depends on the DAC output voltages.

The reference input appears as a varying load to the reference. If your reference can source and sink these currents, buffer is not required.

Look at typical connection diagram for driving reference, page no : 16 for more details.
