Hi,

I have installed the "ADS8688EVM GUI" software.

In the installation itself the device installation wizard announced it can't complete the device driver installation.

GUI was working for a while but  after some time stopped to connect  (without any hardware change )and now not able to connect the evaluation board with the PC: "sdcc interface not detected

The evaluation board is connected to the PC win10 through USB, the green led D5 is on and the green led D2 is blinking, as it is said in the manual.

When i try to connect the ADS86XX EVM to hardware a message "SDCC Interface not detected" is shown.

PC reffered the device as generic bulk device

According similar cases here in the forum

and according

  • The SD Card of the EVM was empty. so I copied the files on the SD cards according to

    https://e2e.ti.com/support/data-converters/f/73/p/685974/2529271#2529271?jktype=e2e

Now I have the following message:

    Best regards, Ulrich

  • Hi Ulrich,

I need more information to help you address the issue:

    1. Is your ADS8688EVM-PDK including EVM and SDCC card new? Did you buy it from a distributor or other channels?
    2. Which files did you copy to files on the SD cards for EVM board?
    3. Did you install the GUI and driver as Administrator in WIN 10?
    4. Have you seen "Bulk Data Interface" as device descriptor in device manager of your WIN 10 after you plug in the USB cable to your computer?

Notice that the firmware in the SD card for EVM board is different from the firmware in the SD card for SDCC controller board, they can not be mixed to use.

    Regards,

    Dale

  • Hi Ulrich,

as discussed please proceed with Dale.

    Regards, Bernd

  • Hi Dale,

thank you for your answer. I solved the issue. First of all the SD card was empty, so I had to copy the app_evm file to the sd card. And I use a newer application (sbac139.zip), which I found in the ads8688a evm product folder. Thank you for your support.

    Best regards, Ulrich

      1. Is your ADS8688EVM-PDK including EVM and SDCC card new? Did you buy it from a distributor or other channels?
I bought it from a distributor, but it was shipped from TI.
      1. Which files did you copy to files on the SD cards for EVM board?
I copied the app_evm to the sd card and renamed it to app
      1. Did you install the GUI and driver as Administrator in WIN 10?
        yes
      1. Have you seen "Bulk Data Interface" as device descriptor in device manager of your WIN 10 after you plug in the USB cable to your computer?
        yes

  •  Hi Ulrich,

Thanks for your update and I'm glad that the issue has been solved, notice that the two SD cards in this EVM-PDK kit can not be mixed to use for the EVM and SDCC card because of the firmwares in them are different. Also, we are upgrading this EVM-PDK to a new platform which will not need any SD card at all also will be simple and easy to use, hopefully we can release it soon.

    Thanks&regards,

    Dale
