ADS7830: Coupling between pair-wise channels

Part Number: ADS7830

Hello,
I am seeing pair-wise coupling between the channels:
0 and 1
2 and 3
4 and 5
6 and 7

Each of these pairs is routed together, but with a 12 mil distance between the traces.
The reference voltage is stable. The readings are stable.

Is the internal architecture of the IC causing this?
Do these pairwise channels share transistors/logical operating blocks?

Is anyone else experiencing this behavior?

Thanks,
Jana

  • Hello,

The datasheet shows that ther is an Channel to Channel isolation of 90dB, thus there should not be any issues within the device.

Coupling happens due to capacitance. Like you mentioned, the first aspect to check is proper layout.

The inputs do not run to closely together, which is good, but are there any Vias or signals on other layers of the PCB to be concerned about.

Do the paired inputs have closely placed input sources?

    Regards

    Cynthia
