ADS1278-HT: Any suggestions for a socket that could work with the CQFP-G84 package

Part Number: ADS1278-HT

We are doing some development work with ADS1278-HT and would much prefer to avoid creating a custom PCB and solder chips for testing.

But the CQFP-G84 is such an unusual size that no sockets are available that will enable swapping out of the chips. Any suggestions?

Also, I am assuming the CQFP-F84 would require us to use some other services wherein we could trim the leads and form the pins!?! Any suggestions for where we could get that done and if that would make it more amenable to being used in a socket?

Thanks.

  • Hello Aroh,

Welcome to the TI E2E community.

I am not certain if there are any sockets available for this specific package.  However, Sensata does have a line of products and may have something for this particular package.

The specific requirements for trimming your own leads is usually determined by each customer.  However, there are some companies that can provide this service.  FANCORT or CORFIN may be able to help, as well as provide suggestions on different socket options.

  • Thanks Keith, this is helpful.

I looked at Sensata and none of their products have the capability to support 84 pin sockets.

I will reach out to FANCORT and CORFIN.

I wonder if QFP100 sockets could be used, especially if we cut the leads appropriately. Those socket have the same pitch.

I am surprised why TI makes such a weird 84 pin package, when 80 and 100 pin sockets are abundant. It makes it really hard to do development and thus makes adapting their products harder.

    Thanks again.
