AFE4420: Application development and alternatives

Part Number: AFE4420

Hi TI,

I am planning to use the AFE4420 to control 4 LEDs as well as collect readings from 4 Photodetector. We have obtained the full product data sheet under NDA amogst other resources. I do have a few questions:

1. The AFE4402 DSBGA package are causing some difficulties in PCB fabrication and manufacturing. Are there any alternative for our use case in a 'larger' pitched packaging?

2. While we are creating our PCB, we would like to concurrently develop library to communicate with the IC via I2C. Will we be able to do this development using the AFE4420EVM? What, if any, should we watch out for so that the library will work with our hardware?

3. I have seen the layout guide where TX lines should be routed away from INP (RX) lines. If we want to connect the IC to the PDs/LEDs via multicore cable carrying RX and TX lines, what is the specifications of this cables (max length, shielding, etc)? Or are these completely not recommended?

Thank you for your assistance
