ADS8556: ADS8556 conversion start pulse width

Part Number: ADS8556

Using the ADS8556 in parallel read mode, I'm looking at page 16, figure 3, of the ADS8556 datasheet.

What is the minimum pulse width that I need on the CONVST_A (or B or C) pin?  The datasheet says the maximum "tconv" time is 1.26usec, but what is the minimum pulse time?  If I used a very fast pulse of 1 nanosec, would this still trigger the ADC properly?

  • Hi Richard,

We recommend to pull down CONVST low by monitoring  and detecting the falling edge of BUSY, this is the best practice in software to run the ADC. By implementing this solution, you do not need to care about the minimum  conversion time. Usually, the ADC datasheet does not provide a minimum conversion time information since the maximum conversion time is a more important parameter for system design.

    Best regards,

    Dale
