ADS1299: Linux Device Driver?

Hello TI forum,

I am trying to use the ADS1299 to acquire 8 channels of EEG data at a rate of 8kHz. I will also need to configure the ADS1299 for proper operation, including setting of the programmable gains, the reference and bias electrodes, leads-off detection, etc.

Has anyone written or know where I can get an example Linux device driver for the ADS1299?

I realize that I will have to adapt it to my own hardware, but the basics of writing to and reading from the various internal registers should be the same. Of course, the SPI interface will need to be customized based on our processor hardware.

Any assistance that you can provide so that I don't have to reinvent the wheel would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Scott,

Unfortunately we do not have a Linux driver for the ADS1299 and there is no plan to create one. Please see the BIOFAQ, you can find example C code as well as debug steps for when you're ready to start prototyping: https://e2e.ti.com/support/data-converters/f/73/p/772058/2855202

That is very unfortunate. Do you have Linux driver examples available for any other multi-channel data converter products that I could use as a starting point for writing a driver for the ADS1299?

I did download the firmware for the ADS1299EEG-PDK, but of course it's not Linux, and will take quite a bit of exploration to figure out how it works.

I appreciate any other leads you can provide.
