ADS54J60: Mechanical stress allowed on the package

Dear team,

My customer has encountered some strange behavior of the ADS54J60 in a few of their prototype boards.

They have multiple devices per board and in some cases they see the JESD204B link fails at low temperatures (less than +10degC).

They would like to overrule the possibility of a mechanical stress their board cover is putting on the ADS54J60.

Could anyone on the team please advise what is the maximum mechanical stress that can be applied to this VQFN (RMP) package ?

Nir,

I am looking into the mechanical stress. In the past, I have had other customers have failures at cold temp. One issue was the customer did not do the proper power sequencing and the other was the clock amplitude dropped just enough at cold temp to cause this issue. Please have the customer check for these as well.

Nir,

This package has been stressed tested from -65C to 150C. We believe this is not a mechanical issue the customer is seeing.

Customer still requests to know what is the maximum mechanical load we they are allowed to apply on the QFN package top surface.

This information is not available.

It sounds like they are asking about mounting force for a top-side heatsink, which is not even effective for QFN devices (best path is thru power-pad to the PCB).

I am still seeing spikes on the unwrapped waveform. I think the issue is with your signal generator. Can you try another one?
