AFE and Sony sensor

Hi,

I am Alessandro, at the moment I am involved on a new project , we would like to interface Sony CCD sensors at a Da Vinci Processor.

At the moment we are looking on DM6446, DM6467T on process side and ICX 445AQ, ICX618, ICX285 on sensor side.

Is correct the use of an AFE?

Can anyone help me?

Hi Alessandro,

Yes, this is the correct use of the AFE. The CCD is connected to the AFE analog inputs. The AFE performs signal conditioning (correlated double sampling, programmable gain, optical black correction, etc) and then digitizes the data. The digitized data can then be interfaced to the DSP.(see attached block diagram).

In general, our AFEs interface to any TI DSP with a video input port using raw video mode. Note the port name may vary depending on the processor, e.g. CCDC port. The DM6446 and DM6447 should be able to support sensors you requested.
