The ADS9224R EVM GUI software will not run on my PC unless I give it Admin rights (Windows 10 x64 Pro). Is there a way to run this software without Admin rights and why does it require them?

Hi David,
Thank you for your post and welcome to our forum.
I'll have to contact our software development team to address this. Please allow me a couple days to respond with an answer.
Are you able to use Admin privileges on your PC and, if so, is the GUI working properly?
Regards,
Hi Ryan,
I am currently able to use a PC with Admin privileges, but we cannot continue that indefinitely. Yes, the GUI seems to be working fine.

Hi David,
Please excuse the delay here.
We do not believe there should be any requirement for Admin privileges built into the GUI software. However, much like our own IT department, there may be some security software on your PC that is setting the default properties to run a program as an administrator. Can you check this property by right-clicking on the executable and disable if it is selected?
Regards,
I checked the compatibility settings. The box for run as administrator is not checked. In file manager, the icon for the software has the little blue and yellow shield on it, indicating it requires admin privileges to run. I've tried it on my work PC which is subject to our IT security policies and I've tried it on my personal laptop which has no security policies and of which I am admin. Both PC's ask for admin approval before the software will run. Work PC is running Windows 10 Pro and my personal is running Windows 10 Home. TI software is version 1.0.0 Build date 25-Jul-2018. I installed using the installer program and did not change any of the defaults.
Hi David,
We finally understand where this requirement for Admin rights is coming from. The issue is that we have files in Program Files that are modified as the GUI is used, and access to this area needs Admin rights. The original plan was to only place the installed files in the Program Files area (which still needs Admin access) and place the files that need to be modified during GUI operation in Public Documents. But it looks like we have placed a few files that are modified while using the GUI in the Program Files folder instead.
We will fix this and release an updated version. As soon as this is available, I will let you know.
Best regards,
Hi David,
I have a new version already that I can share with you. This will still require Admin privileges to install, but it will not require Admin privileges to run.
May I share the installer with you at the email address in your profile?
Regards,
Hi David,
You should have received a link to download the .ZIP file containing the new installer. Please give it a try and let me know if you run into any problems.
Regards,
Ryan, I was able to test the software this morning. It appears to be working just fine and without Admin privileges. Thanks for your help on this matter!
