TSW1400EVM: Getting "Frame Clock error in Read DDR to file error" message when downloading the .rbf file generated by the quartus II demo program

Part Number: TSW1400EVM

Getting "Frame Clock error in Read DDR to file error"  message when  downloading the .rbf file generated by the quartus II demo program.

When I compile the quartus II project of TSW1400EVM on TI's official website to generate an rbf file and download it to TSW1400EVM through HSDCPro, it shows that the download is successful, and only LED4 of the 7 LEDs is off. But when I press the Capture button of HSDC Pro, the message "Frame Clock error in Read DDR to file error" is displayed.
It is worth mentioning that when I use HSDC Pro to download the default firmware, it can successfully run and capture AFE5818EVM data. So I don't know if I need to modify the Verilog of the DEMO project to run normally.

  • Hi,

Thank you for using AFE5818EVM and TSW1400EVM.

Actually when we are running AFE5818EVM with TSW1400EVM,

    we are using ADC_FIRMWARE.rbf

    under: C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\High Speed Data Converter Pro\1400 Details\Firmware

which will set up all the correct settings,

however using other .rbf files may not be compatible with AFE5818 device

and it may cause the error message happened.

    Thank you!

  • Thank you for your reply.
Now we need to use TX7316EVM+AFE5818EVM+TSW1400EVM to build a simple ultrasound transceiver system. We need to use TSW1400EVM FPGA to communicate with TX7316EVM without affecting data capture, so we need to modify Verilog on the basis of quartus II project DEMO.
But now the .rbf file generated by the DEMO cannot capture the AFE5818EVM data normally, so we cannot add the communication function before solving this problem. Do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks.

  • I mean, can you give me some hints on how I should modify the quartus II project to be compatible with AFE5818EVM, such as modifying the data length received once, the system clock or the like.

  • Hi,

    For using TX7316EVM,

please look at TI website support:

    www.ti.com/.../TX7316

Then you can follow it and make your own system and settings on your own.

    Thank you!

  • Hi,

    How are you?

    Our engineer replied your question,

right now our EVM designs are limited with TX7316EVM to PC by USB

(and it includes its own GUI)

(please look at TX7316 User's Guide page 43)

And both AFE5818EVM connected to TSW1400EVM together

(and also they are covered by their own GUIs as well).

(Please also follow AFE5818 User's Guide)

These are our currently supported right now.

If the customer wants to connect TX7316, AFE5818, and TSW1400EVM all together,

then this is not included in our system right now.

    Thank you!
