DAC101C081Q: what is its actual resolution?

Hi,

We are powering this DAC from 3.3V and its connections is as follows:

According to the datasheet its a 10-bit DAC but actually its reaching full scale (Vout=3.3V) only when we send 0xFFF (4095). Sending 0x7FF (2047) outputs 1.65V.

It seems this DAC has 12-bit resolution.

Are we missing something here?

Hi,

The data for this device is left-justified, so the last two bits of your 12-bit code are ignored. This is generally because the digital interface is reused on the 12-bit version of the device. You can test this by seeing that there is no change between 0x7FC and 0x7FF.
