ADS54J60EVM: Can I use TSW14J57EVM or do I need TSW14J56EVM ?

Part Number: ADS54J60EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TSW14J57EVM

I’m currently trying to integrate the following two product.

ADS54J60EVM – ADC

TSW14J57EVM – data capture & signal generation

1. I notice ADS54J60EVM has FMC connector.  But, TSW14J57EVM card has FMC+ connector.   Since mechanically it could fit, will there be an issue for these two card?

2. Additionally, the ADC user guide instruction is integrating with TSW14J56EVM instead of TSW14J57EVM.  I also notice the DC power voltage level is also different between the two data capture card.  Is it really compatible for ADS54J60EVM with TSW14J57EVM?

  • Michael,

The ADS54J60EVM has a FMC connector which mates to the TSW14J56EVM FMC connector. The newer TSW14J57EVM has a FMC+ connector, and by the VITA standard that governs the design of the FMC and FMC+ connectors, if a mezzanine board (ADS54J60EVM) has a FMC connector it will mate with a carrier (TSW14J57EVM) FMC+ connector. It does not work the other way around. The spec just add two additional rows on each side of the FMC connector. The FMC will be centered when inserted into the FMC+ connector.

The TSW14J57EVM uses 12V as in input power opposed to the 5V used by the TSW14J56EVM, but all board supplies are regulated down so there is no issue with using the ADC EVM wit the TSW14J57EVM.
