DAC38RF82EVM: DAC38RF82EVM viability for PRBS generation

Part Number: DAC38RF82EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC38RF82

Greetings,

I am currently looking for a solution for generating a Bipolar 2^18 Bit long PRBS with a 2 GHz Chiprate.
Is the DAC38RF82EVM a viable choice for this purpose, if not, is there an appropriate choice in the TI-Portfolio you could point me to?
If so, would it be possible to generate the repeating PRBS without the TSW14J56EVM pattern generator board?

Thanks

  • Hi,

The DAC38RF82 can generate the output waveform out the TX output. The chip rate is 2GSPS input (or input data rate), and you can interpolate additionally to sample the waveform faster. There is no restrictions on the length of PRBS besides the memory depth from your FPGA. The waveform is generated from your FPGA. The DAC itself does not generate any PRBS patterns.

There are PRBS patterns available on DAC38RF82's SerDes output. However, it may not be the same functionality that you need.
