Hello，

About the continuous-conversion mode, it describes that the ADC automatically begins a conversion of the input signal as soon as the previous conversion is completed. And the Conversion register contains the result of the last conversion. So for example, if we want to sample 1000 times， when read the conversion register, does it contain the value of the 999th conversion? How to read the Nth sample point? Please help to describe about the continuous mode in detail.

Hello Kailyn,

In continuous conversion mode you are correct that the conversion register contains data from the last completed conversion. The current conversion will not update the register until it is complete. In order to read N samples, you will have to keep track of how many times you have read a new conversion in continuous mode.

Generally if you intend to sample a specific number of times it is best to use the single-shot conversion mode, and command a new conversion for each sample you want. This has the added benefit of saving some power, since the device enters a low power state between conversions in single-shot mode.
