ADS7046: offset and gain error under non calibrated condition

Part Number: ADS7046

Hello,

My customer has the following question:

I have a question about the offset and gain error of the ADS7046, hope you can help me.

In the Datasheet the offset and gain error is given only after calibration.

If we going to use the ADC without the calibration feature could you give me a min/max value or a rough range for the offset and gain error in not calibrated condition?

Best Regards

Jan

  • Hello Jan,

Calibration is greatly encouraged. I suggest the customer add a calibration at start up; even if they do not plan to calibrate during operation.

To complete offset at power up the first frame to the device should be 24 SCLK long. after this, they can continue to use the device as normal.

    Regards

    Cynthia

  • Hi Cynthia,

ok I understand. I think they don't want to know these values because they want to discard calibration. It's more for checking if the device works correct I would say. So do we have the values for non calibrated condition:

    • min/max offset
    • min/max gain error

    Thanks

    Jan

  • Hello Jan,

The datasheet has images of offset and gain error for calibrated and non calibrated operation. The datasheet will have all the available information
