ADS1013: ALERT/RDY function

Part Number: ADS1013
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1014

Hello expert,

May I know when will the ALERT/RDY assert if config register setting is continuous-conversion mode? Thanks!

Best regards,

Ann Lien

  • Hello expert,

Sorry for the TYPO. It should be ADS1014. And also when we set "Comparator queue and disable" to 11, will it follow datasheet figure 14 waveform? I'm not sure what is the meaning for high impedance at ALERT/RDY pin. Thanks a lot!

    Best regards,

    Ann Lien

  • Hello Ann Lien,

For reference, this is Figure 14 from the ADS101x datasheet:

The conversion is complete on the falling edge of the ALERT/RDY pin's output in continuous-conversion mode.

The ALERT/RDY pin will not behave as shown above when the COMP_QUE register is set to a value of 0x11. To use the ALERT/RDY pin as a conversion ready output for each conversion, set the COMP_QUE register to 0x00. This asserts the ALERT/RDY pin after each conversion. If there are no specific thresholds being used for the comparator, to get an ALERT/RDY pulse for every conversion, set the Lo_thresh register MSB to 0, and the Hi_thresh register MSB to 1 (see section 8.6.4 describing the Lo_thresh and Hi_thresh registers).

    Regards,
