ADS1278: Output propagation delay...

Part Number: ADS1278

Hello. I'd like some clarification of a couple of timing parameters. We are using the ADS1278 as follows: frame sync mode, high speed mode, TDM, IOVDD=DVDD=1.8 V, tCLK=32 ns. I see from the datasheet that the output propagaion delays tDOPD and tMSBPD change with DVDD. My question is what happens if IOVDD changes?  Does Note 6 beneath the Frame Sync spec table on page 9 hold for an IOVDD of 1.8 V instead of 3.3 V? Will my configuration result in output delays of 25 or 31 ns? Thanks.

  • Hi Graham,

Welcome to the TI E2E community.

The prop delays depend on both IOVDD and DVDD levels.  In order to reduce the prop delays, IOVDD must be raised to nominal 3.3V.  We provide two different DVDD ranges to allow for lowest power configuration depending on the timing required.

There probably is some reduction in max delays if a different IOVDD is used, such as 2.5V nominal, but we do not have any data to provide such a specification.

Since you have both IOVDD=1.8V and DVDD=1.8V, this will result in the longest delays, and the prop delay for both t-DOPD and t-MSBPD will be 31nS max.
