ADS1293: AC Lead-off Detection

Part Number: ADS1293
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1292

I would like to apply the ADS1293 to our ECG measurement products to implement the AC lead off function.
Previously developed model was difficult to implement AC lead off function using ADS1292, but ADS1293 seems to support Analog AC lead off function, so I want to apply it.
Our product uses only two electrodes, RA and LA.
I would like to ask if it is appropriate to implement the Analog AC lead off function by applying the ADS1293, and if there is a related technical data or reference document.
Thank you.

  • Hi Alan,

Welcome to E2E forum and thank you for the post.

The ADS1293 is capable of both analog and digital AC lead-off detection. The analog AC lead-off circuitry has a build-in AC-couple synchronous detector that detects the AC voltage's amplitude on the lead and compares it to a reference voltage through a Schmitt-trigger comparator. The comparator output will indicate whether the lead is well connected or not. The analog AC lead-off is suitable for capacitively coupled electrodes such as dry electrodes.

Unfortunately, we do not have any technical data or reference documentation specifically for this analog AC lead-off detect design.

    Thanks.
