ADS112C04: Reprogram register 00 (MUX)

Genius 9880 points

Part Number: ADS112C04

Hi Team,

Customer want to know if they can reprogram register 00 (MUX) . Below is the inquiry.

"

Can I reprogram register 00 (MUX) for selecting the inputs as often as I want, or is the number of write cycles limited?

I would like to measure 2 temperatures with the device and switch the inputs (MUX) after each measurement.
But I am not sure whether this can happen as often as I like.

"

Maynard

  • Hi Maynard,

The registers are actually volatile memory and can be read and written with no limitations.  The customer must wait for the conversion to complete before setting the next mux position.  One method is to use single-shot mode as follows:

    1. Set the mux to the first desired measurement
    2. Send the START command to start the conversion
    3. Wait for the conversion to complete by monitoring DRDY to go low
    4. Read the conversion result with the RDATA command
    5. Set the mux to the next measurement
    6. Send the START command to start the conversion
    7. Wait for the conversion to complete by monitoring DRDY to go low
    8. Read the conversion result with the RDATA command
    9. Loop back to 1

    Best regards,
