ADS1118EVM: Cannot connect to PC

Part Number: ADS1118EVM

Hello TI experts,

My customer got ADS1118EVM and tried to test, but it cannot connect to PC.

1. when i connect EVM to PC with USB cable, 5 LEDs turn on and off four times in turn, and nothing happens.

(in user guide, D1 and D5 would be light up in normal operation.)

2. when I go to device manager, I see the device name like below, but i don't know this is right or not.

3. I tried the steps the link below. but still I could not connect EVM to PC.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/data-converters/f/data-converters-forum/914940/faq-how-do-i-resolve-pamb-evm-connectivity-and-or-driver-installation-issues

of course I downloaded driver and installed it.

4. finally I could not connect. in ADS1118EVM Software, I see the screen below when I connect EVM to PC.

when I go to ADS1X18EVM-GUI, I see the screen below ;

Please check this issue, can you give me some advice on what to do?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Chase

  • Hi Chase,

The older EVM software will not work with this version of the hardware, so you must use the software ADS1x18EVM GUI from the gallery of dev.ti.com.

It appears that the PAMBoard was not programmed by the contract manufacturer.  You can program the board by going to the File drop-down menu and selecting Program Device.

    • Plug in the EVM to USB and wait for the LEDs to complete the sequence you described in your post.
    • Start the GUI and when you see the Connection Failure pop-up box for No PAMB Controller Detected, close the pop-up.
    • Then go to the File menu and select Program Device.
    • Wait for the firmware to be flashed and you should see a pop-up that says Flash Successful.

Let me know if you have any other issues.

    Best regards,

    Bob B
