DAC38RF80EVM: DAC38RF80EVM + TSW14J56 Square Pulse generation

Part Number: DAC38RF80EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC38RF80

Dear Team

This request is separate to the current request that I have made.

I would like to create a sqaure pulse that I can output from J7 of the DAC38RF80 board.

How do I produce a square pulse on HSDC pro software. There is an option to load external pattern file from .csv but the samples vary acording to the x and y axis.

The signal I would like to produce is a (8ns turn on pulse) with 1us period. I would like this to be constantly trasmitted as an output from the DAC.

Could you shed some light on this.

Kind regards

Mohammed

  • Mohammed,

You can generate a square wave output for CHA with the attached csv file. The problem you will have is that since the EVM has a transformer on the output, the square wave will get rounded off due to the transformer (see attached). You would need to remove transformer T7 and use SMA's J6 and J7 for a differential output from CHA. The board does not have this option for CHB.

    Regards,

    Jim
