ADS131A04: Multiple Device Configuration With Different Clock

Hi Team,

The datasheet recommends that multiple ADS131A04 configuration should share the same clock, may I know what will happen if each device has its own clock when all the clock has the same frequency?

    I don't think you can run multiple devices (one with asynchronous interrupt mode and the other in synchronous slave mode) with different clocks. With two separate crystals or oscillators, they will likely be different even if the difference is low parts per million.

    When running in any synchronous mode, the clocks need to be exact, with the /DRDY input used to show that the conversions are synchronized. When using the same clock, the device in asynchronous interrupt mode is basically the master. The /DONE line from the master acts as the /CS for the slave. The /DRDY from the master acts as an output to feed this to the slave's /DRDY to show synchronization. If the /DRDY is not synchronized, the slave tries to reset the entire filter and shows an error. If the device clocks are not completely synchronized, then I don't think you'll get any data out of the slave at all.
