Windows 7 64 bit Blue Screen Crash

Hello I am using the MSP430 MPU and communicating with it through a 3rd party IDE. I have the latest drivers installed V3 of the .dll and CCSv5. The application runs fine for a few minutes, then it blue screen crashes. This has happened on multiple PCs that I am trying to deploy this custom test bench to.

It would be greatly appreciated if someone could assist me with this issue.

Thanks,

Steven

  • Hi Steven,

so this is fully reproducable across pcs/projects/workspaces?   Or do examples work without the crash?

What would help us is if you could enable error logging :

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Troubleshooting_CCS

any dump files or error logs would help.  Also what exact ccs version is this?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

Thanks for the reply. It is reproducible across several different computers running Windows 7 64bit OS. I am not actually using the CCS, just the drivers included with it so that I can communicate with the 430 in my product, through USB. I wrote down the blue screen file that is causing the error. usbser.sys it resets so fast that I couldnt get the rest of the dump.  It is CCS version 5.

    The driver is MSP430 UART v 1.3.0

  • Hi Steven,

if your issue is purely the usb driver, let me move this to the msp430 forum for you.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  •   I also am receiving this blue screen using the rf2500. i have a dump file from my crashes if it would help. We are using these to communicate with a 3rd party interface board to do some product testing. the rf2500 is running 8-10 hrs a day and we get BS crashes 2-3 times a week. always the same driver listed as above. hardware is asus MB with Win W7-64 OS, software is running program compiled in LabView 2012.

  • Dear Randy,

I have the same problem like yours. I am using MSP430F5529LP connected to my PC with USB cable. On the MSP430 side I have an app that acquires and send the data over usb (virtual com port) to the host application written in LabVIEW2012. On my desktop PC the application works very well over days without any error but somehow when I connect the msp430 to my laptop the OS crashes with Blue screen.

Did u find solution for your problem?

    Looking forward your reply,

    Thank you
