CCSv6.1 failed to create Java Virtual Machine

Hi

I am using CCSv6.1 in Windows 10 for a month.

Today, just after lunch, it is poping-up the message: failed to create Java Virtual Machine and when I press OK, it closes.

How to fix this issue?

Why it appeared just today, after a full month using it?

    Removing 256M line from ccstudio.ini changed the initial box background image to:

    But, CCS opens and I can edit and compile.

    Another issue regarding periodic backup reappeared. The alert box says:

    An internal error occurred during: "Periodic workspace save.".

    Cannot set lower sequence number for root ( previous: 103, new: 102). Location> c:\projetos\projetosCCSV6\TM4C1294\.metadata\.plugins\org.exlipse.core.resources\.safetable\org.eclipse.core.resources

    I just remembered that before lunch, the Java was updated. As CCS ( Eclipse ) is totally based in Java, may be this issues are related for this new Java version, do you agree?

    If so, could you advise how to fix this?

    Definitely, after updating Java, CCSv6.1 began to become very unstable.

    Sometimes, it can't complete flash programming. CCS simply closes.

    Sometimes, it freezes completely. Only using ALT+CTRL+DEL and deactivating it, I can proceed.

    Attached follows dump and log files. It is zipped, because this site don't allow .log and .dmp formats.

    I had hit a similar issue with the "failed to create Java virtual machine" once with my CCS 6.1.0 and Windows 7. At that time, I removed the 256M line from ccstudio.ini and saw the same Eclipse splash screen as you mentioned. At a later time, I reverted the ccstudio.ini back to the original one, and then was able to get back not only the CCS splash screen, but did not experience the "failed to create Java virtual machine" message again either.  My current ccstudio.ini has 256M and also -Xms40m and -Xmx512m and it is working well again.

    Regarding the java update causing CCS to become unstable, I see you reported this earlier as well (in this post) but the logs at that time did not reveal any reason why updating the system java version would affect CCS. Still I will notify the engineering team to have a look at these latest logs.

    As you know, Windows 10 is currently not officially supported, but it is on the roadmap for the next release of CCS (end of 1Q 2016).
