CCS/TMS320C6455: I am converting a project from CCS v3.3 to v7.4 and am having trouble with a generated .cmd file. Do .tcf files still work in CCS v7.4?

I am converting this project and when I build a .cmd file is generated that produces build errors. We believe a .tcf file may be able to help but simply adding the .tcf file does not work. Is there some other file type that replaces .tcf and can we convert our current .tcf file to it? Do we need to do something else instead?

What kind of file is the *.tcf file? What is its purpose? The first thing that comes to mind when I think of *.tcf files is a DSP/BIOS tcf file. But I think trace files also used the same extension, so clarifying the *.tcf file you have would help

It is a DSP/BIOS tcf file yes, sorry I did not mention that in the original post.

DSP/BIOS support has been deprecated. Please see the below link:
processors.wiki.ti.com/.../BIOS_Support_in_CCS_Eclipse

CCSv6 and greater does not come with DSP/BIOS. You can get it from the App Center.

What worked for me, was migrate 3.3 project to 5.x, which supports both DSP/BIOS and SYSBIOS, then migrate to SYSBIOS and then upgrade CCS.

I downloaded and installed DSP/BIOS v5.4 and it did not seem to fix the problem either. Shouldn't I be able to use .tcf files with that installed? Same as before?

Has DSP/BIOS been discovered by CCS? You can check in the workspace proerties:

If it is not there,make sure you add the the path to it in the product discovery path and press the "Rediscover" button to start the process to discover and install it to CCS
