Part Number: DLP2010EVM-LC

For example, I used two Pattern Sets. Each pattern Set contains one pattern, which is a 1-bit Vertical Pattern.

And the pattern set display order and configuration is:

As result, I get trigger_out_2(the illumination time) signal like this:

So how to reduce the time delay between two pattern sets?

I think it is best that you look at 7.3.2.1.2 in the datasheet. this explains the capabilities on the chipset in internal pattern mode. you can increase the number of patterns in each frame (up to 24) which should reduce the time between pattern sets.https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/dlpc3470.pdf?ts=1621604080264&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.ti.com%252Fproduct%252FDLPC3470

I read the part in the datasheet you have mentioned, but I still can not find the contents you mentioned, like increase the number of patterns in each frame (up to 24) which should reduce the time between pattern sets.

And the examples configuration of patterns in datasheet are diffrent from my configuraion. They all use just one pattern sets, while I use two diffrent pattern sets. So i think this is why the datasheet does not mention delay time between tow diffrent pattern sets.

And the EVM GUI users guide does not mention the time between pattern sets.

Hello Nick,

Can you please let us know the firmware version that you are using? I would recommend you to use the latest available on ti.com and redo the timing measurements.

The firmware I used is 7.3.1.

What changed in the latest verion for the delay time between two different pattern sets? Can be adjusted or be reduced to a litte time delay?

Some improvements were made in the ESW to reduce the pattern set switching delay. If you use the latest firmware, you should be able to see significant reduction in the switching delays.

I tried the latest version 8.0.0. The time delay between different pattern sets is sometime reduced. Between different pattern sets，the time delay is different，I got time delays of 0.2ms，1.8ms，3.4ms between different sets pairs using latest firmware, while old version has the nearly same time delay in all situation.

In summary, the time delay between two pattern sets can not be adjusted and is determined by the firmware; and the new firmware can be little better in some situation (depends on patterns).
