DLPLCR4500EVM: Is not powering on.

Hi,

Today I've connected my Lightcrafter4500 and after few minutes of work it just turned off and doesn't powering up. It was powered by 12v 10a power supply. What is interesting that DLP chip gets very hot when power supply is connected. I have another Lightcrafter4500 unit and its working without a problem from same power supply. Does anyone had experience with behavior like that?

Also when unit arrived I've noticed poor assembly quality, heatsink had lots of residue from thread tapping and brass stands were damaged. That's was very odd since my previous unit was flawless in this regard.

What is the model of the power supply you are using? On that note, where did you order your systems from? Did you get them from the same distributor? If so, are there any noticeable differences in the board design (e.g. is one board a different revision than the other)? Finally, what firmware are you running on either system?

Hi, i cannot say about the power supply model just that its 12v 10a. I've measured voltage with working unit connected and its 12,1 volts so it should be within the specs. Both units were ordered from TI directly about 2 -3 month apart, thats why i'm puzzled about assembly quality. At least visually no differences are visible and both run same latest firmware from TI with structured light patterns loaded.

I recommend you contact the distributor you purchased this EVM from and request a replacement if this is the state that the EVM was in out of the box. It indeed looks like there is visible physical damage on the unit.
