DLPLCR9000EVM: send patterns via HDMI from matlab

Hi,
I am trying to connect the LightCrafter 9000 to the PC with the HDMI cable using the Pattern on the Fly mode.

If I create patterns with Matlab, how I can show it in real time on the DMD? 

Do you have an example of the Matlab code that I shoud use?

(So far I have only been able to display on the DMD the screen of my PC  as a second monitor.)

    Thank you for your question. 

    Which version of the EVM boards do you have?

    I just want to make sure you have access to the user guide for the DLP9000 and the controller board that goes with it: DLP LightCrafter 6500 and 9000 EVM User's Guide (Rev. D). The pattern on the fly mode operation and an example of sequences is on page 32.

    Once we have the details on your hardware and software configuration, we can add more operational details.

  • Hi Matt, yes, I have access to the user quide for my DLP LightCrafter 9000 but I can't do what I asked in my post, the examples with the sample images work correctly.

    I am confused.  The HDMI cable can be used in either Video Mode or Video Pattern Mode.  For Pattern On the Fly Mode you must load patterns over USB into DDR memory on the controller and send the command to run the sequence of images loaded into the buffer.

    Regrettably we do not have any Matlab example code.

    What you will need to do is have your Matlab code put out images over video (to HDMI in this case).  Then connect HDMI and set the system in Video Mode and get a sync so that it is displaying to DMD.  After a Sync lock has been established then you can swith to Video Pattern Mode and re-define how you want to display the 24 bits that come in during an RGB Video frame. 

    In Video Pattern Mode you have a great deal of control of how the data is displayed.  The only requirement is that the overall display time of your sequence of images from the frame must take less time than the frame time.
