DLPA3005: Inductor noise issue when projection is ON

Part Number: DLPA3005

Dear Team,

We are working on Pico projectors from last 3 years and designed multiple versions of custom DLP PCBA.

But still we are unable to reduce the inductor noise in the board when projection is ON, also this ground noise will affect to other DC to DC converters. Once projection is OFF noise will clear.

Can you give any suggestion to reduce this noise?

Thank You

Regards,

Chethan Kumar

  • Hi Chethan,

In general ground noise issues like this are related to the layout. I would recommend you focus on a few things.

-make sure high-current carrying paths, and ground return current paths are as short and wide as is reasonable

-all decoupling capacitors are as close to device pins as possible, also ensure that decoupling capacitors have as low ESR as possible

-from my experience, using a ground fill on all layers where possible, and many vias connecting these layers can reduce the inductance of the ground connection greatly

I'm sure you have read this, but section 10 of the DLPA3005 datasheet discusses exactly which current and return current paths should be of concern.I would suggest to re-read this.

    I hope this helps,

    Regards,
