Pico 2 Connector

According to the Pico Users guide at

http://focus.ti.com/lit/ug/dlpu003a/dlpu003a.pdf

The Pico 2 auxiliary connector is a Molex 52892-2495C.

Can you provide a part number for the connector that

mates with this connector? Better yet, a part number for

a cable with a mating connector.

  • Alan,

The AUX connector of the Pico Kit v2 does not require a connector to plug into it - only a flex cable. The flex cable is

    Molex 21020-0259

    Digi-Key WM10219-ND

I believe the Molex 52892-2495C is the part number for the surface mount ZIF connector for the PCB.

  • Thanks for the info. One more question before I buy a Pico.

Do you recommend a video card?

Is there any minimum requirement for a video card in order for the Pico to display

the 1440 Hz 1 bit mode with no gamma correction?

Would this card from Amazon be OK?

    ZOTAC nVidia GeForce 9500GT 1 GB DDR2 VGA/DVI/HDMI PCI-Express Video Card ZT-95TEK2M-FSL

  • Alan,

I can't recommend a specific video card - I really don't know much about them. For the Pico Kit you don't need anything fancy - the problem may be getting such a low resolution out of the newest cards. All the Pico Kit v2 can use is VGA 640x480 at 60 Hz frame rate. This is rather ancient. The 1440 fps mono mode is derived from 640x480 60 Hz 8 bits per color RGB. The splitting is done internal to the Pico Kit controller. The Application Report DLPA021 "Using the DLP Pico 2.0 Kit for Structured Light Applications" gives details on all of the structured light modes.

  • The real challenge is when you need more then 24 images in 1440Hz mode. Given one frame the pico displays 24 images (24*60Hz=1440). So if you need more images you have to put them in a second frame. So your application  must synchronize itself with the vertical-blank interval.
