About "DLP Discovery 4100 Chipsets"

Hello

I want to control DMD with Altera's FPGA , and Target application is UV Litho.

"DLP Discovery 4100 Kit " Uses a Xilinx FPGA

So I have interesting in "DLP Discovery 4100 Chipsets" Product.

But There no information about "DLP Discovery 4100 Chipsets" in designhouse homepage and TI Home page

What I get if i buy  "DLP Discovery 4100 Chipsets", only device?, or device with PCB Board ?

How can I get more information "DLP Discovery 4100 Chipsets" ex. layout, IO connector spec. Image of "DLP Discovery 4100 Chipsets" etc

thankyou.

  • Hello again Kang,

The information you are looking for should be in the DLP Discovery Knowledgebase.  If you have not purchased anything yet you can still contact one of the Design Houses and ask for access to help you make your decision.  Use this link to find a Design House that fits your needs (location, area of expertise, etc...):

I would like to let you know that the chipsets are sold together [FPGA(Virtex 5--LX30), PROM, DAD200 & DMD].  We do not make the source code available for the DDC4100 portion (DMD controller) of the chipset.  It is proprietary.

You can certainly use an Altera FPGA instead of the Virtex 5 LX50 AppsFPGA that is used on the Discovery 4100 Evaluation kit.

    I hope this helps.

  • Hi,

I'm having a similar issue. I own a DLP4100 kit but would prefer to control the DMD controller with an Altera FPGA instead of the Virtex 5 LX50.

Is there a way to bypass the on board Virtex5 and send commands directly from an external Altera board to the DMD controller?

    Thanks.

  • Hello Donald,

Welcome to the DLP section of the TI-E2E Community.

I regret to inform you that on the D4100 Discovery kit there is no provision to bypass the Virtex 5 APPS_FPGA chip (i.e. LX50) and communicate directly with the DDC4100 (Virtex 5  - LX30) chip.

The Virtex 5 - LX50 is not required to interface with the DDC4100, but bypassing the APPS_FPGA on the kit controller board would be extraordinarily difficult.  Moreover, the Exp Bus is connected to the APPS FPGA as is the SODIMM slot.

Others have designed their own controller board with different chips to interface to the DDC4100.

  • Thanks a lot.

I was also wondering if there is a Verilog sample code example in addition to the VHDL sample code example?
