DLPLCR9000EVM: Cannot communicate with DLP

Hello,

We bought a DLPLCR9000EVM from TI about a year ago, and we have multiple older units in the field (bought in or before 2019). I attach a screen shot to show what we have (unable to locate the serial number).

We can communicate with the DLP using the DLPC900 GUI, but we are having trouble communicating with the DLP using our own software. The same version of our software is working fine with our older DLPLCR9000EVMs.

It appears that we can open the USB port to the DLPLCR9000EVM, but the first command that we send to the DLP (Get Hdw Status) returns a write error. Please advise whether the API and/or the command format has changed. Unfortunately, the person originally programming our software operating the DLP has left several years ago.

Hello Peter,

There are some changes in FW version 6.0.0 which must be run from GUI version 5.0.0, which you have shown in your image.

The latest additions to the FW functionality can be tracked in DLPC900 Programmer's Guide. Make sure that it is DLPU018E.

Also check the DLPC900 Dual Controller EVM Guide.

You can also try downloading the earlier FW 5.0.1 and using your software to see if that is working.

Hello,

Our software support team was able to establish USB communication with the DLP. Now, we have a different issue as follows:

The DLP initializes correctly, and sending the STATUS_HW (0x1A0A) command returns

Hardware Status:
Init Success, True
Incompatible controller, False
Reset controller error, False
Forces Swap error, False
Slave present/ready, True
Sequencer abort status error, False
Sequencer error, False

We then send the commands (shown in pseudocode)

Set Power Mode to normal

Stop Pattern Sequence

Set Display Mode to Pre-stored pattern (flash)

Then, we put the DLP into Idle mode (0x0201), and poll the main status (1A0C) every 20ms until the sequencer running boolean goes to False or timeout after 3.6s.

This has always been working fine in the past, but now with the newer DLPLCR9000EVM it always times out. Thus, we are wondering what is going on. Does the timeout have to be set to even longer values? Please advise. Thank you.
